HANOI, VIETNAM – June 20, 2025 – As the UAE works toward a more sustainable future, Vietnam’s VinFast is quickly gaining ground in the region, aligning with the country’s growing electric vehicle (EV) market and shifting consumer preferences.
With global EV manufacturers rushing to capture the attention of UAE drivers, VinFast stands out as a key player in this race. The company has already started opening showrooms and launching its brand in Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) nations.
The reason for VinFast’s push into the UAE is clear: projections indicate that the UAE’s EV market could generate $1.95 billion in revenue by 2025. A 2024 survey revealed that 73% of UAE residents are eager to buy electric cars. The top reasons include the appeal of advanced technology (50%), improved fuel efficiency (35%), and enhanced safety features. Nearly half of respondents see electric vehicles as the future of transportation, with 38% planning to buy one in the near future. The shift toward electric is already visible, with a 23.6% increase in EV charging usage in Dubai as of early 2025, according to the Dubai Electricity and Water Authority.
The UAE government is also supporting this green transition. Dubai provides free parking for EV owners, offers complimentary Salik tags, and is expanding the EV charging network. Some experts have even proposed creating an EV-only lane on Sheikh Zayed Road to help meet the government’s goal of having half of all vehicles on the road be electric by 2050.
This growing demand is prompting new entrants like VinFast to challenge traditional automakers by offering fresh designs, advanced technology, and competitive pricing.
VinFast has already made a name for itself in its home market of Vietnam, a country not traditionally associated with high-tech automotive manufacturing. The company has built a strong EV supply chain with 60% local sourcing, aiming to reach 80% by 2026. In 2024, VinFast became Vietnam’s best-selling car brand, partly due to its extensive EV ecosystem, which includes charging infrastructure and solid after-sales policies.
Now, the company is taking its success abroad, with its VF 8 model marking VinFast’s international debut. The VF 8 features a sleek, premium design and advanced smart technology that aligns well with UAE drivers’ desire for both sustainability and luxury.
The VF 8 also boasts impressive performance specs and industry-leading warranties. It offers 10 years or 200,000 km of vehicle coverage, 10 years of unlimited mileage battery coverage, and a robust after-sales service. The vehicle’s refined design and cutting-edge technology, including a full suite of Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) and 11 airbags, make it an appealing option for consumers who see their car as more than just a mode of transport.
As the UAE continues to build its EV infrastructure and offer government incentives, more global automakers are expected to enter the market. However, brands like VinFast, which are moving early, are poised to shape the future of driving in the UAE, providing both environmental benefits and exceptional driving experiences.
