Kia EV5 in Singapore: Prices, Models, and Ownership Costs

by Grace

Electric vehicles (EVs) are rapidly gaining popularity as more charging stations are established and technology continues to improve. Kia recently marked a significant milestone in Singapore’s EV market with the launch of the Kia EV5, the brand’s first electric vehicle assembled in the country.

The Kia EV5 was first revealed at the Singapore Motor Show in January and officially unveiled at an event in May. With this new development, car buyers are eager to know: how much does it cost to own a Singapore-made Kia EV5?

Kia EV5 Models and Prices

The Kia EV5 is available in three distinct models: Air, Earth, and GT-Line. Each model has different features and performance specifications, offering a range of options for various driving preferences.

1. EV5 Air Model:

The EV5 Air is the entry-level model in the range and stands out as the most energy-efficient version. It is equipped with a 134-horsepower motor, which allows it to qualify for Category A in Singapore’s Certificate of Entitlement (COE) system. This makes the EV5 Air more affordable compared to other models. As of June 2025, the cost of the EV5 Air is around $193,000, which includes the COE fee of $96,999.

2. EV5 Earth Model:

The EV5 Earth model shares the same motor as the Air version but comes with a larger battery, offering a longer driving range of 540 kilometers on a full charge, compared to the EV5 Air’s 400 km range. This improvement in range comes with a higher price tag, with the EV5 Earth priced at $209,600, also including the Category A COE fee of $96,999.

It’s important to note that both the EV5 Air and Earth models are exclusive to the Singapore market and will not be exported elsewhere.

3. Premium EV5 GT-Line Model:

The top-tier model in the EV5 lineup is the GT-Line, which comes equipped with two electric motors, an all-wheel-drive system, and a total output of 308 horsepower. Due to its higher horsepower, the GT-Line qualifies for Category B COE, making it the most expensive option. The GT-Line’s driving range is slightly lower at 470 kilometers per charge, as the dual-motor setup requires more power. As of June 2025, the price for the GT-Line model is $261,000, which includes the Category B COE fee of $113,000.

Charging Costs: What to Expect

Owning an EV comes with additional costs, mainly for charging. While charging at home is significantly cheaper, public charging stations provide faster options but at a higher cost.

Home charging for the Kia EV5 takes between eight to 24 hours to reach a full charge, at a cost of approximately $10.50. Alternatively, public charging stations with DC Fast Charging can charge the battery to 80% in 30 to 45 minutes, at an average rate of $15 per hour. This quick charge provides a range of about 250 kilometers for every hour of charging.

Which Model to Choose?

If you’re interested in owning a Singapore-made vehicle, the Kia EV5 offers a great option. The Air and Earth models are exclusive to the Singapore market, making them unique choices for local buyers. The Earth model provides a better range but comes at a higher cost. Whether the additional range is worth the price difference is a personal choice, especially in a city like Singapore, where driving distances tend to be short.

For those who don’t mind spending a little extra, the GT-Line model offers more power and all-wheel drive. However, buyers should be prepared to pay around 25% more than the Earth model for the added horsepower.

In summary, whether you prioritize efficiency, range, or power, the Kia EV5 models provide a range of choices tailored to different needs and budgets.
