Skoda has launched its fastest production car ever with the new Elroq vRS. This model takes the practical Elroq compact SUV and adds Skoda’s sporty RS performance features. The result is a compact electric SUV that balances everyday usability with exciting speed and handling.
Following the footsteps of the sporty Enyaq and Enyaq Coupe, the Elroq vRS comes with a powerful 335bhp dual-motor setup and all-wheel drive. It can accelerate from 0 to 62 mph in just 5.4 seconds. While not the quickest in the electric car market in 2025, this is still a very respectable time for a family SUV.
The Elroq vRS also features distinctive styling that sets it apart. It has a lowered chassis, aggressive bumpers, and glossy black trim accents. Inside, the upgrades continue with “suedia” upholstery—Skoda’s term for faux suede—a premium 12-speaker Canton sound system, and advanced technology like an augmented reality head-up display.
Skoda offers impressive charging capabilities with 185kW fast charging. The estimated driving range is 339 miles, slightly lower than the 360 miles offered by the standard Elroq. The sportier suspension and optional 21-inch wheels make the ride firmer, trading some comfort for sharper driving dynamics.
Surprisingly, when sport mode is off, the Elroq vRS drives much like a regular Elroq. This makes the car versatile—it’s comfortable for long trips but can become sporty and responsive on twisty roads.
How We Tested the Skoda Elroq vRS
I tested the Elroq vRS in the Czech Republic. The route included winding country roads, busy city streets, and fast motorways. The focus was on how the car’s improved performance felt, along with handling, chassis control, and everyday practicality.

Performance, Battery, and Driving Experience
The Elroq vRS uses Skoda’s largest battery pack at 84 kWh. This powers two electric motors with a combined output of 336bhp and 679Nm of torque. The all-wheel-drive system helps deliver quick acceleration and confident handling.
The sportier setup does reduce the driving range compared to the regular Elroq, but not drastically. The Elroq vRS still achieves an estimated 339 miles on a single charge, which is impressive for a performance-focused electric SUV. Fast charging lets you recharge from 10 to 80 percent in about 26 minutes.
In normal driving mode, the car feels soft and comfortable. It has mild brakes, smooth suspension, and easy steering like a typical family SUV. But switching to sport mode sharpens everything—the throttle becomes more responsive, the steering tighter, the suspension firmer, and the brakes stronger.
Cabin noise can be an issue at high speeds. Wind noise becomes noticeable above 80 mph. However, on slower roads, the stiffer chassis and traction controls make cornering very enjoyable. This sporty feel is exactly what Skoda RS fans expect.
Interior, Practicality, and Space
The Elroq vRS interior matches its sporty personality. The dashboard combines practical plastic surfaces with soft, suede-like “suedia” upholstery. The door trims even show the car’s exterior paint color, including a standout bright acid green option.
This green color also appears as stitching on the dashboard and sports seats. Other sporty details include carbon-fiber style trim, stainless steel pedals, and a perforated leather steering wheel with a vRS badge.
Despite the sporty upgrades, the Elroq vRS remains practical. It offers the same spacious interior as the standard Elroq, with 470 litres of boot space. Folding the rear seats expands this to 1,580 litres, enough for larger loads. Rear passengers enjoy good leg and headroom as well.
Technology and Infotainment
A 13-inch touchscreen sits prominently on the dashboard. The system has RS-themed graphics and a simple interface. Below the screen, a row of physical buttons controls key functions like climate, driving modes, and demisting. The design is sturdy but a bit basic for the top-spec Elroq.
The augmented reality head-up display is a highlight. It projects speed, speed limits, and navigation info right in the driver’s line of sight. The display is clear, easy to read, and not distracting.
Additional features include a 12-speaker Canton audio system for premium sound, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and a remote app to control pre-conditioning and self-parking.
Pricing and Running Costs
The Elroq vRS starts at £46,560. It competes in the premium mid-range compact electric SUV segment. Its efficiency and strong range help keep running costs reasonable for a sporty electric vehicle.
Skoda’s Powerpass service supports public charging. However, UK buyers should be aware that the best tariff currently lacks a selected partner network, which might reduce value for those relying on public chargers.
Summary
The Skoda Elroq vRS is a well-rounded performance SUV. It offers a rare combination of everyday comfort, useful practicality, and lively driving fun. While it rides firmer than the standard Elroq and carries a premium price, it remains a strong contender in the compact electric SUV market.
