by Grace

Zeekr, the China-based premium electric vehicle maker, has named Carro as its newest authorized dealer in Malaysia.

On Monday, the two companies announced their partnership in a joint statement. Zeekr said this move highlights its commitment to making electric vehicles (EVs) more accessible to Malaysian customers. The partnership is part of Zeekr’s effort to lead the future of transportation through advanced technology.

The agreement was formalized with a memorandum of understanding (MOU) signed at Carro’s flagship store in Puchong, Malaysia.

Alex Bao, Managing Director of Zeekr Southeast Asia, said the Malaysian market has shown strong interest in Zeekr’s premium EVs in recent months. He added that this growing demand encourages Zeekr to strengthen its presence in the country. The collaboration with Carro is a key step in expanding Zeekr’s sales and after-sales services to better support customers.

Bao also mentioned that the partnership fits well with Zeekr’s plans to launch its next model, the Zeekr 7X, in Malaysia soon.

Carro is Asia Pacific’s largest online automotive marketplace and is the leading used car platform in Malaysia. This partnership marks a significant milestone for Carro as it steps further into new car sales.

Earlier in March 2025, Carro began selling parallel-imported vehicles in Singapore. These cars come with Carro’s own warranties, after-sales support from Carro Care, and financing through Genie Financial Services.

Fong Hon Sum, CEO of Carro’s International Marketplace, expressed excitement about offering more vehicle choices to Malaysian customers. He noted that Malaysia’s market for hybrid and electric vehicles is growing. This growth is supported by developing infrastructure and tax incentives for EV buyers. Carro is ready to help Malaysians transition to electric vehicles with reliable inspection, repair, and maintenance services.

Zeekr owners in Malaysia can expect greater convenience over time. In addition to the standard dealer warranty, they will have access to a full range of Carro’s services. These include financing, after-sales care, and insurance options through Genie Financial Services, Carro Care, and Coverro.

Currently, Zeekr operates three showrooms, called Zeekr Spaces, located in Petaling Jaya and IOI Mall Puchong. Plans are underway to open four more Zeekr Space showrooms in Juru Autocity, Klang Valley, and Seremban. Carro will also open three authorized Carro Care workshops in partnership with Zeekr.

Zeekr first entered the Malaysian market in December 2024. It launched with two models: the 009 MPV and the X Model SUV. Both vehicles are praised for their advanced EV technology, spacious interiors, and excellent user experience.

Headquartered in Zhejiang, China, Zeekr is a premium new energy vehicle brand under Geely Holding Group. Alongside its sister brand Lynk & Co, Zeekr aims to create a seamless user ecosystem based on innovation. The company develops its own software, electric powertrain, and EV supply chain using cutting-edge technology and expertise.

Founded in 2015, Carro has raised over S$700 million (about $546 million) from investors including the SoftBank Vision Fund and sovereign funds. In the fiscal year 2024, Carro reported its best-ever full-year earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization (EBITDA) of S$43 million (approximately $33.56 million).

Carro has a strong presence in Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, and Thailand. It recently expanded its operations to Japan, Taiwan, and Hong Kong.
