Bmw Calls for Online Honesty and Responsibility at Internet Forum

German luxury automaker BMW called for integrity and responsibility online at the 2025 China Internet Civilization Conference. The event took place from Tuesday to Wednesday in Hefei, Anhui province. BMW was the first major foreign carmaker to join this important forum.

Sean Green, president and CEO of BMW Group Region China, said, “True innovation requires lasting responsibility. Sustainable technology must always serve the greater good.”

He added, “With over 100 years of history, we know that a company’s value goes beyond profits. It must be based on accountability and trust. When promoting digital civility, we stand for respect, integrity, and responsibility.”

BMW was one of the headline speakers at the conference. Their participation highlighted the company’s strong dedication to corporate social responsibility (CSR) and digital ethics.

Li Yao, chief data governance officer at BMW Brilliance Automotive, stressed that digital transformation and CSR go hand in hand. “BMW integrates internet ecosystems into its core social responsibility efforts,” Li said.

A 2023 report by PwC showed that BMW’s CSR programs in China helped 35 million people that year. This was a new record for the company in the country.

For more than 30 years, BMW has addressed key social issues in China. The company has built a reputation as a responsible corporate citizen and a supporter of a healthy online culture.

BMW has also backed government initiatives like the “Clear and Bright” campaign. It has encouraged the whole industry to build positive and constructive digital communities.

At the conference, BMW reiterated its promise to prioritize safety and responsible innovation. The company said every new technology it develops must meet the highest standards for security and reliability.

BMW’s latest advancements are showcased in its upcoming Neue Klasse platform. This new platform marks a major step forward in design, technology, and digital systems. Models built on the China-made Neue Klasse are expected to launch in 2026.
