Mitsubishi is recalling more than 198,000 Outlander and Outlander Plug-in Hybrid SUVs over a software issue that affects the rearview camera. This recall now includes model-year 2022-2024 Outlanders and 2023-2025 Outlander Plug-in Hybrids.
The problem lies in the infotainment system, where a software glitch can cause the rearview camera image to freeze or fail to display. This issue reduces the driver’s ability to see clearly behind the vehicle, increasing the risk of accidents.
To resolve this, Mitsubishi will offer a free software update to the affected vehicles. The company will begin sending notification letters to owners on June 30. Owners of vehicles repaired under a previous recall will need to have this new fix applied as well.
For further information, owners can contact Mitsubishi or reach the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s hotline. Additional details are also available on the NHTSA website, where owners can check their vehicle identification number (VIN).
