Kia has officially launched its high-performance electric models, the EV6 GT and EV9 GT, in the UK. Both models are now available to order.
The updated EV6 GT comes with a more attractive price tag, starting at £59,985 — a £2,690 reduction compared to the previous version. It retains its powerful dual-motor system, producing 641bhp and 770Nm of torque. This setup allows the EV6 GT to accelerate from 0 to 60mph in just 3.3 seconds, making it the fastest-accelerating car Kia has ever made.
Despite its performance focus, the EV6 GT also offers practicality. With an 84kWh battery, it delivers a driving range of up to 279 miles on a full charge. New to this model is Kia’s ‘Virtual Gear Shift’ feature, which mimics the sensation of changing gears using software and paddle shifters mounted on the steering wheel. This is designed to enhance driver engagement.
The EV9 GT, meanwhile, stands as the most powerful version of Kia’s flagship electric SUV. It also uses a dual-motor layout, generating 502bhp and 740Nm of torque. This allows the large SUV to sprint from 0 to 60mph in 4.4 seconds.
Starting from £82,185, the EV9 GT comes in five- and seven-seat configurations as standard. A six-seat option is also available for those who prefer more spacious second-row seating. It is equipped with a large battery that offers a range of up to 280 miles per charge. Like the EV6 GT, it also features Kia’s new Virtual Gear Shift system.
Both the EV6 GT and EV9 GT are available for order now in the UK, marking Kia’s latest push into the high-performance electric vehicle market.
