BMW is unveiling a new design installation at the 2025 Salone del Mobile in Milan, offering a glimpse into the future of mobility through creativity, personalization, and technology. The exhibit, titled “Vibrant Transitions,” is open from April 8 to 13 at the historic Palazzo Borromeo d’Adda. Visitors can explore immersive spaces that showcase the design philosophies of both BMW and MINI.
The centerpiece of the installation features a series of thematic rooms focusing on the growing importance of individualization in automotive design. A newly formed cross-brand design team, in collaboration with BMW’s creative consultancy Designworks, developed the exhibit to explore how materials, color, form, and digital interfaces come together to shape the future of automotive products.
Cars play a key role in the exhibit. One of the main highlights is the BMW X3 “Designer’s Choice,” displayed in the courtyard. This special version of the new G45 BMW X3 is painted in Frozen Tanzanite Blue, a striking matte finish that combines a sporty look with sophisticated elegance. The vehicle is equipped with large 21-inch 1037 M light alloy wheels in a two-tone star-spoke design, one of the largest wheel options available. At night, the car’s appearance changes, with the illuminated Iconic Glow kidney grilles adding a dramatic visual effect to the front.
Inside, the X3 features the same design and materials as the BMW X3 M50, with no unique interior elements. As for performance, the X3 M50 is powered by a 3.0-liter turbocharged inline-six engine with mild-hybrid technology. It produces 393 horsepower and 428 lb-ft of torque, enabling it to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in approximately 4.4 seconds and reach a top speed of 155 mph. The car’s power is sent to all four wheels through an 8-speed automatic transmission with BMW’s xDrive system.
The 2025 BMW X3 M50 xDrive is priced at $64,700 in the U.S., though it’s unclear if this price will change due to tariffs.
