Inside the Audi Q6 Sportback e-tron: Flashy Screens, Smart Features, and Some Surprises

by Grace

The Audi Q6 Sportback e-tron brings the brand’s sleek styling into the world of electric coupe-SUVs. It’s a bolder, more design-focused version of the Q6 e-tron SUV, but with a few trade-offs inside. So what is it like to sit in and live with?

High-Tech Interior with a Futuristic Feel

Stepping into the Q6 Sportback e-tron is like entering a high-tech lounge. It’s dark, glossy, and filled with high-definition screens. Some may feel like they’ve walked into Darth Vader’s private cinema. The interior looks futuristic, but also a little cramped for a car of this size—almost like a reverse TARDIS: bigger on the outside than the inside.

A Dashboard That Doubles as a Light Show

Audi calls the dashboard a “digital stage,” and it certainly lives up to the name. The driver gets an 11.9-inch digital display full of data. In the middle, there’s a large 14.5-inch touchscreen for navigation, media, and vehicle controls. For an extra touch of tech, Audi offers an optional 10.9-inch screen for the front passenger.

This third screen can be used to install apps, adjust the navigation system, or even change the music. However, passengers can’t control their seat heating or air conditioning from there. Those features are still located on the lower edge of the main touchscreen, closer to the driver.

A Touch of Fun with Smart Tech

Audi has added some fun features for tech lovers. One standout is the augmented reality head-up display. This system projects floating visuals like arrows, speed limits, and distance warnings directly onto the windshield.

The display is calibrated to work with your eye line, making it feel like the images are appearing on the road itself—sometimes up to 200 meters ahead. The graphics are bold and bright, which can be helpful or a bit distracting, depending on your comfort with high-energy visuals while driving.

If you’re feeling playful, the optional passenger screen even supports a karaoke app—though how fun that is likely depends on who’s riding with you.

Style Over Space?

The Q6 Sportback e-tron is based on the more practical Q6 e-tron SUV but cuts a sleeker figure with its sloping roofline. That design choice impacts rear headroom, making the back seats less comfortable for taller passengers. But legroom remains acceptable, and the middle rear seat can still be used occasionally.

In terms of storage, the Sportback has a 511-liter boot. Fold the rear seats down, and you get up to 1,373 liters of space. There’s also a 64-liter front trunk—useful for storing charging cables or smaller items.

Audi claims the Sportback version only sacrifices 15 liters of boot space compared to the standard Q6. But that figure is measured only up to the window line. If you often carry bulky items, the regular Q6 SUV may serve you better.
