Recently, the Defective Product Recall Technical Center of the State Administration for Market Regulation consecutively issued three recall notices for Mercedes – Benz. A total of approximately 16,100 vehicles are involved, including imported A – Class, CLA – Class, GLA – Class, domestic EQC, domestic C – Class, and GLC SUVs.
The recall reasons are diverse. Some vehicles have issues such as incorrect fuse boxes, which may lead to system failures, power loss, and affect the restraint system and instrument display. Irregular nozzle shapes in turbochargers could cause non – compliance with emissions requirements under certain driving conditions, posing an emissions hazard risk. Software design flaws in the battery management system may result in thermal runaway of high – voltage batteries in extreme cases, with a potential fire risk.
Mercedes – Benz (China) and Beijing Benz will, through authorized dealerships, conduct free inspections, replace parts, or update software for the recalled vehicles. It’s worth noting that just a day before these recall announcements, Mercedes – Benz’s vehicle navigation system experienced a widespread crash, affecting a large number of vehicle models. This series of events not only tests Mercedes – Benz’s product quality control but also its ability to handle crises and maintain customer trust. As one of the leading luxury car brands, how Mercedes – Benz addresses these issues will have a significant impact on its market image and consumer confidence.
